  • The Irwin mango is a cultivar of mango tree that is native to South Florida and is known for its sweet flavor and smooth skin. The fruit is oval-shaped, with a round base and a pointed top, and has smooth skin that turns a dark red when ripe. The flesh is yellow, juicy, and has a mild but sweet flavor, and is sometimes described as having an apple or mango flavor. The fruit is fiberless and contains a monoembryonic seed.
  • Irwin mangoes typically mature from June to July in Florida and are often born in clusters. The trees are moderately vigorous growers capable of exceeding 20 feet in height if left unpruned, developing open canopies. The fruit weighs 12 to 16 ounces.
