Pina Collada Mango fruits are small, often weighing less than 8 ounces, similar in shape to Fairchild mangoes, and have a poor flesh-to-seed ratio. Fruits turn from green to pale yellow when ripe. The flesh is yellow, fiberless, very rich and sweet, and the pina colada flavor appears when the fruit is more ripe. The seed is large and polyembryonic compared to the fruit itself. Production appears to be low to many and the trees are very susceptible to disease in western areas. In our area closer to the coast they can yield acceptably, although the actual kilo will never be much due to the weight of the individual fruits. Delicious mango held back by low yield and small fruit size.
